Assalamualaikum and Hye!
Here we are again. Participate or doing some of the project. This semester project same as last semester but have a quite different. The name of this project still the same which are Virtual Microbe. Basically, I know what it is but this semester we are assign to do Literature Review (final assignment) instead of Inforgraphic and Montage Video.
I think I know why Dr Wan ask us to do the Literature Review. This is because, next semester or next year we will do our Final Year Project. So, helpful in doing our thesis in future.
Then, all the task we need to submit to Open Learning website, Honestly, I don't really like OL because its more complicated, not friendly user and not too smooth. I love Trello more. Because it is more systematic, friendly and easy to use! I hope in future Open Learning will be more easier to use and not too complicated. :)
Then, the weakness of this project are of course INTERNET CONNECTION. But, it much more better than last semester because we already knew this will happen. Then, its hard to collaborate or cooperate with team members especially from UKM and UM. This is because, I personally like more to talk or discuss face to face. It was easier for me to talk, give opinion and teach them.
The strength or the benefit are I was able to know more people from UKM and UM. Then, improve my knowledge and skills in Literature Review.
Last but not least, thank you to UKM and UM reps for your afford and cooperation. Sorry for any weakness and problem.:)

Virtual Microbe (VM3)
Assalamualaikum...
Tadaaaaa. Another project for this semester from Dr. Wan, Virtual Microbe. We are assign to do this project with UKM students. Basically, we use apps Zoom to do the discussion. The word 'Virtual' actually explain what the objective of this project. Hehehe.
So, we need to submit 3 progress report which are:

Alhamdulillah. We are able to submit all the report and final report also which are Montage video & Infographic (as usual. haha). Good things about this project are we can make new friends with another Universty and share about the apps that Dr wan have teach us, Not only that, we are also share our experience and something else.
But, during this project the most anoyying was internet connection and different schedule. Hahaha. But, alhamdulillah we manage to finish this project. Yayyyyyyy.

Reflective Journal
1) Learning Outcome
2) What have you learned
From this course which is microbial ecology, I was able to know the adaptation of microbes according to their environment characteristics. Then, I was able to know how the microbes survive in their environment especially in harsh environment/condition.
3) Elaborate the experience in doing the microbe and us project.
This project are quite heavy for me. This is because, during semester 4 I have a lot of assignment to so. This project actually make me stress at the beginning. After the presentation of microbe and us, I feel relieved and happy that my group can actually finish this project. I feel blessed that my group are they to help and support me.
Moreover, the difficult part when doing this project is to find an information about outerspace microbe. But, I glad that we are able to find that Xanthoria elegans is one of example outerspace microbe. Thank to my team for their effort. Heeeeeeee
4) How do you relate microbial ecology to other microbiology courses you have covered in the earlier semesters and how you can apply the knowledge in the future?
In the earlier semesters, I have learned about group of microbe, their optimum temperature and etc. During this microbial ecology course I have learned that microbe can survive in their optimum temperature. Certain microbes can only survive in harsh condition because their have endospore. All these knowledge that I have learned in this course I can applied when I further my studies which are during research. It is crucial that we know all the microbes characteristics especially their adaptation in order to grow or culture the microbes.

Awesome Microbe Carnival 2015 (AMC2015)
Assalamualaikum and Hye.
On 19 and 20 November 2015, all microbiology students was involved in Awesome Microbe Carnival. This carnival involve first year student until final year student. Each year or batch have their own assignment. Me as second year student will do a poster about organelles.
Therefore, my friends and I were choosing Gas Vesicles organelles. We divide our job. I and Adlin will do on poster. Then, Nadrah and Ummu will work for the video. Lastly, Nana, Adina dan Syahdatul were work on 3D Structure. They do the template and sent soft copy to Dr wan for printing. Yes!! Printing the 3D structure. Excited right?? Heeeee
During our progress to do a poster I find difficulty. First, to find more information about gas vesicle. As we know, Gas Vesicle provide buoyancy to microorganism. Thats all. Second, its hard for me to find a good and suitable design for my poster. But, I managed to overcome this problem and succeed to came out with one poster. Weeeee!!!

19 and 20 November 2015
19 November in the morning have an opening ceremony but I did not involve because we have a class during that time. So, after class we run to the panggung percubaan. I am so nervous. I am afraid that I cannot explain well to the students or visitors.
But, during the first day we managed to answer almost all the question from the visitors. But, our weakness are sometimes we are not always there at the posters. So, when visitors came to our poster there cannot hear our explanation and get interested with gas vesicles. We managed to see our weakness, so we will improve it on second day. Phew.
On the second day, visitors came form foundation students and undergraduate students. It quite challenging because they are undergraduate students!! Their thinking are different from the Secondary students. Huhuhuhu.
Overall, what can I see, almost all visitors from Sekolah Menengah did not know what is Gas Vesicle. They thought that gas vesicles is same as vacuole. Noooo!! It was different. Totally different. Vacuole is organells inside the plant. Whereas gas vesicles is organelles inside the prokaryote. and not all prokaryote have Gas Vesicless!! Hehehe.
What can I say about AMC2015, I am having fun and new experience for me. I managed to handle a few visitors that came form different background. Not all the visitors know about gas vesicle. Most of them never heard about gas vesicles. Hahaha.

Week 2
Assalamualaikum
Today 14 September 2015. We late come to class. This is because, we have inorganic lab at Faculty Science. So we have to walk from faculty science to faculty biotech. I glad that Dr Wan understand and give chance to us.
So, we must enter the class before 11.15 a.m. Then, Dr Wan says that She will bring food on next class on monday. Yayyyy! Thanks a lot Dr Wan. Terharu sangat. xox
What was our activity on that day? We do task in Padlet. We must find any information about Prokaryote Diversity.
Then, there a group of Proteobacteria. One of these are Betaproteobacteria. We was assign to find out about Betaproteobacteria. Then, our group will present on next monday. Next post, I will explain more about this. :)

7 of September 2015 was our first lecture on Fisiology Microbe. Dr wan was our lecturer. During the holiday, Dr Wan told us that she gonna do the big event named AWESOME MICROBE CARNIVAL.
AWESOME MICROBE CARNIVAL will be held on 19-20/11. Our task was to do 3D model of organelle. This event contribute all the microbiology student. My batch will be with first year student.
First day we was introduce to the TRELLO apps. We form our group. Each group have 6 members.
So, our first task was to form our group.Heeee

Today lecture is at BMF, Bilik Mesyuarat Fakulti. BMF is the first placed we meet DR Wan. And first task She gave to us. Haha.
So, today we learned Biogeohemical Cycles and Aspects of Biotechnology in Microbial Ecology.
There are 5 cycles in Biogeochemical Cycles:
- Carbon cycle
- Nitrogen cycle
- Sulfur cycle
- Iron cycle
- Manganase cycle
Carbon Cycle
The final product:
Aerobic--> Accumulation of oxdized products
Anaerobic ---> Accumulation of reduced products
Nitrogen Cycle
3 major process:
-Nitrification
- Denitrification
- Nitrogen fixation
Sulfur Cycle
Processes:
- Sulfur Oxidation
- Sulfur Reduction
- Sulfate Reduction
Aspect of Biotechnology in Microbial Ecology
