Nomenclature

Assalamualaikum,

Actually on Monday we should have class replacement with Dr Wan. But, because of 'something' Dr. wan had to cancelled it. So, on Monday, we only have lectured for one hours. The topic that Dr Wan covered is Nomenclature.

Nomenclature is about naming the bacteria, the microbes. Same with Organic Chemistry. Alkane, Alkene, Ester. Ehhh. Masuk Organic Chemistry pula. Heeee.

We must write the species correctly. For example, vibrio cholera. The right way to wrote is Vibrio cholera. If we are typing, the word must be in Italic and the genus must be in Capital letter (Front word). The genus is in small capital letter. Then if we wrote manually, we must underlined instead of Italic.

After that, from the name of the microorganisms we can detect or know characteristic. As example, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Saccharo means sugar, myco means mold and cerevsiae means beer. This bacteria is actually the yeast if i'm not mistaken. Heeee.

This topic make me more clear and understood how to write the microorganism in the right way and actually from the name we can know the disease, shape and others. :)

Till then,
Malyanah Zahari.
