Week 8

Assalamualaikum and Hye.

This week we learned Microbial systematic. As usual, Dr wan ask we to BYOD. BYOD stands for Bring Your Own Device. Hehehe.

So, after several months I didn't see Dr wan, last Wednesday we had lectured with Dr wan. First lecture of course have first assignment. Haha. So, on Wednesday we have task to do mind map on topic Microbial Systematic. Before that, we must form 7 group. I in group 6.

My group do a mind map on virus. We used popplet. This application are allow many people to do one mind map in same time. It's exciting but in the same time its annoyed. This is because of
the internet connection! Hahaha. Oh ya. This is the link for popplet application--> Link

Overall, the Microbial Systematic of Virus, we learned the taxonomy and Characteristic. Virus can be grouped base on nucleic acid type, strategy of replication and morphology.

After this, each group will present their mind map. Each person in each group must present for 2 minutes. So, one group will present about 14 minutes depends on the total of the members.

Group 2 was present their mind map on Bacteria.

Then, Dr wan was given lecture on Introduction to Microbial System. There two type of morphology observation. Microscopy and Macroscopic. Microscopy is we observed under microscope. So, we will see the movement of the microorganims and so on. Macroscopic is we observed by using naked eye. We can observed the shape, the colour, the colony of the microorganisms.

Then, there are one question which is what is the differences between Endospore and Free spore. Endospore is form by bacteria and free spore is detached as individual spores and can be form of eukaryote.

Dr, Wan also mention about EMB Agar. Here is te EMB agar.

Today (27 April 2015) we had lab using this agar. You know what. Blood agar is made up of horse blood!! Wow. The smell is yuckk. Hahaha.
